AVIATION BUNKER
The Henderson International Airport is located on the eastern side of Honiara 10 kilometers out of the CBD. It is a World War II aerodrome used by the allied forces during the Guadalcanal campaigned and later into Bouganville.
Approach
All overseas aircraft arriving at Henderson Airport are required to undergo Quarantine, Customs and Immigration clearance before any person is permitted to disembark as in any other country. All appropriate documentation should be made available to Customs including:
- Passport
- Incoming/outgoing Immigration cards
- Port Clearance

Aircraft Refuelling
South Pacific Oil and its predecessor (Shell Pacific Islands) have been sole suppliers of aviation fuel at Henderson Airport since the first flight into the country more than 55 years ago. Approval for duty free fuel can be obtained from the Internal Revenue Commission.
The Jet A1 is supplied bulk and complies with the latest standards. Typical specification include AFQRJOS Checklist issue 26.
Supply
South Pacific Oil maintains an aviation depot at the airport, from which aircrafts are supplied using mobile refueling units, with carrying capacity of 20,000 and has a pumping capacity of 600 litres per minute. These mobile refueling units comply with the latest Aviation refueling unit standards.
Payments
Payments for fuel purchases can be pre arranged. Alternatively payments can be made by cash or EFPOS or all major credit cards except Diners. Westpac Banking Corporation, ANZ Banking Corporation, Bank South Pacific and Pan Oceanic Bank operate branches and provide full banking services.
